1. Analyzing Landing Pages in Google Analytics

The first report is analyzing “landing pages” using Google Analytics data. Set the date range for one month and follow this path Acquisition>Search Console>Landing pages a shown in the below snapshot.

  • Impressions
  • Clicks
  • Average Position
  • CTRs or click through rates

CTR is calculated as Number of Clicks/ Number of Impressions * 100

So your click through rate should be higher in the range of 2-10% which is considered as the standard rate. In case, your click through rate is less then you need to optimize the meta tags.

Actionable Tip– Optimize the meta tags including meta title and description with good performing keywords. Keep only one target keyword in during the title optimization and write the description to get a click and avoid stuffing the keywords. It is also recommended to maintain the average position as lower as possible in order to appear higher in SERPs. This helps in increasing organic search traffic.

2. Monitoring Queries Report in Google Analytics

The second report to analyze using Google Analytics data is “queries”. Set the monthly range and follow this path Acquisition>Search Console>Queries as shown in the below snapshot.

Actionable Tip– Download the report in the excel format and add a filter in the main tab. Apply the filter for impressions greater than 1000 and CTR less than 5%.
