1. Tools Installation

Install Google analytics for tracking and monitoring the traffic from all the sources including social, organic, direct and referral. You can even track the conversions to the site through Google Analytics. Add and verify your site for Google webmasters for rectifying the technical errors on the site.

2. Search Target Keywords

For taking ideas about keyword you can use the tool like Uber suggest and select the long tail keywords for getting top rankings in quick time. Research about the keywords by using tools such as Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, keyword.io, etc and finalize the keywords.

3. Add Meta Tags

Based on the finalized keywords, you can edit and Meta tags including title, Meta description, heading tags, ALT tags for images to the site. Keep the title under 70 characters and Meta description under 150-160 characters. Use the proper heading tag H1 for the main heading and H2- H6 tag for sub-headings in the post based on the importance. Include the keyword in the main URL and ALT text and file name of the images.
Note: The best thing about Shopify is they have automatically generated robot.txt, sitemap and canonical URL to avoid duplicate URLs.

4. Content Optimization

Create the right content marketing strategy by knowing the buying behavior of the customers when they perform the search queries and target those keywords. Ensure that all the product pages have the content around 300 words or more. On the other hand, blog posts should have 500 or more words in the content. Avoid duplicate content and you can easily check it using the tools such as Copyscape and Siteliner.

Write unique description of the products and add the product reviews as it will add more value to your product and earn the trust of customers. Write the content for the search engines as well as for the users. Maintain the keyword density which means that if your keyword appears 1 time in the post of 100 words, then keyword density is 1%. So for the better visibility, it is suggested to maintain the keyword density to 1-2%. Avoid using the keywords more than the recommended percentage as it will consider as the penalty by the search engines known as keyword stuffing.

Note: Don’t delete the pages without permanent or temporary redirections. It is suggested to add 301 permanent redirections for passing the link juice and authority to the redirected page.

Off Page Shopify SEO checklist

Here is the off page SEO checklist to increase the domain authority of the site and earn the trust of customers

1. Link Building

Link building is the process of getting incoming links from other domains. Earning links is an important technique for Shopify SEO. Quora, Yahoo, niche specific sites and forums will help to earn authority. Use tools like Ahref, open site explorer and majestic to analyze the backlinks and utilize for link building.

2. Social Link Building

Social profiles boost the sales of an e-commerce outlet. You should promote the products from the online outlet store to Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Instagram is an emerging channel to promote the products. Tumblr and Flickr are good for social link building.

3. Reputation Building

Brand reputation is important for building the strong online presence. Get as many online reviews as possible on the site and social profiles. Remember to respond to the negative reviews as well.
